## Overview

AUDD is AUDC Pty Ltd's centralized Australian dollar stablecoin, redeemable 1:1 and backed by AUD cash and {{term:treasury}}Treasury bills{{/term}} at regulated Australian banks. AUDD is what happens when a publicly listed fintech (Novatti, on the ASX) builds a stablecoin the way regulators wish everyone would: 100% AUD cash and Treasury bills at Authorised Deposit-taking Institutions, AFSL No. 700123 from ASIC, monthly independent {{term:attestation}}attestations{{/term}} by William Buck, and selection for the Reserve Bank of Australia's Project Acacia pilot. The C+ safety grade reflects solid fundamentals — a B+ peg, B+ resilience, and a stress profile that rarely leaves the calm end of the scale — dragged down by genuinely thin DEX liquidity, where a shallow pool footprint would struggle to absorb any meaningful sell pressure. The dozens of recorded depeg events, with a worst downside near 3,000 basis points, speak to the realities of pricing an AUD-pegged asset against dollar-dominated crypto markets, where FX volatility does the damage that reserve quality cannot prevent. AUDD's challenge was never product quality; it is whether Australia's on-chain economy grows large enough to sustain a domestic stablecoin alternative.
