## Overview

bnUSD is Balanced's decentralized dollar stablecoin on ICON, minted from {{term:overcollateralization}}overcollateralized{{/term}} {{term:cdp}}CDPs{{/term}} against sICX and bridged cross-chain via xCall. BNUSD is the overcollateralized stablecoin of Balanced, a Cosmos/ICON-native lending and DEX protocol. Holders borrow it against sICX (staked ICX) and other Hub collateral on ICON for a 0.2% origination fee plus 2% annualized interest, and the same supply circulates wrapper-free across connected EVM chains and Injective via Balanced's xCall messaging layer. Adding BNUSD gives Pharos coverage of the ICON/Cosmos stablecoin niche — a small but durable ecosystem that no other tracked asset represents — and exposes the cross-chain Hub-issuance pattern as a category. The asset is sub-$5M and currently mid-migration to a v2 design re-anchored on Sonic, so supply and the canonical issuance chain are expected to evolve.

## Peg Mechanism

CDP-style mint: users borrow bnUSD against eligible collateral on the ICON Hub through the Balanced Loans contract, paying a 0.2% origination fee and a 2% annualised interest charge; loans must remain above the protocol's collateral ratio or are eligible for liquidation. The same bnUSD supply circulates wrapper-free across connected chains via xCall, so cross-chain balances net back to the canonical ICON issuance.
