## Overview

BUIDL is BlackRock's tokenized institutional {{term:money-market-fund}}money-market fund{{/term}}, NAV-pegged to $1 and backed by U.S. {{term:treasury}}Treasuries{{/term}}, repos, and cash custodied by BNY Mellon. It has become the largest tokenized money market fund and the asset that a growing list of stablecoins (USDe, USDtb, frxUSD, USD0, CASH) hold in their own reserves rather than managing T-bill {{term:custody}}custody{{/term}} directly. Its B-minus report card is a reminder that Pharos measures structural risk, not brand prestige: institutional-top custody at BNY Mellon and all-very-low-risk reserves earn A+ resilience, but zero DEX liquidity, no recorded depeg events, and Reg D access restrictions confine BUIDL to a world invisible to retail. The roughly 3.5% NAV-appreciation yield net of 20 bps fees is T-bill rate pass-through, unremarkable on its own but compelling when you consider it comes with BlackRock counterparty risk rather than crypto-native smart contract risk. Eight chain deployments via Securitize are expanding the footprint, but BUIDL's true significance is infrastructural — it is the plumbing layer where TradFi yield enters crypto's reserve stacks, not an asset most humans will ever hold directly.
