## Overview

EURS is STASIS's MiCA-regulated euro stablecoin redeemable 1:1 against EU bank deposits — the original euro stablecoin, slowly losing ground to better-funded rivals. EURS was the original euro stablecoin — Malta MFSA licensed, BDO Malta audited, 100% backed by euro balances at licensed European institutions including Central Bank accounts — and its reward for being early is watching better-funded competitors methodically take its market. The D safety grade is the harshest in the euro stablecoin peer group, and the reason is the peg itself: a failing peg grade, a record studded with brief sub-50-bps blips and a few violent excursions past 30% in both directions, and an active deviation showing on the dashboard right now. That last point matters more than the others — this is not historical scar tissue but a live wound, and it routinely keeps EURS at the watchful end of the stress scale. Liquidity is the one bright spot, reasonably distributed across its pools and earning a respectable B-, but distribution cannot repair a quote that keeps slipping. The verdict holds: this is a euro stablecoin whose pristine {{term:custody}}custody{{/term}} and recurring {{term:attestation}}attestations{{/term}} cannot offset a market that regulation kept alive but cannot make grow — and a peg the market is no longer pricing at par.
