# Electronic USD (EUSD)

**Peg:** US Dollar

**Backing:** Crypto-Collateralized

**Governance:** CeFi-Dependent

**Status:** active

## Overview

eUSD is a Reserve Protocol RToken wrapping Compound and Aave USDC/USDT lending positions, with RSR stakers absorbing first-loss — a {{term:yield-bearing}}yield-bearing{{/term}} basket that's matured into a workhorse. Electronic USD takes three of the safest yield positions in DeFi — Compound V3 USDC, Aave V3 USDC, and Compound V3 USDT in roughly equal thirds — wraps them in Reserve Protocol's permissionless basket {{term:redemption}}redemption{{/term}} mechanism, and lets RSR stakers absorb the first-loss risk. The peg and resilience grades both sit at A+, and atomic permissionless redemption against the live basket is among the stronger exit routes in the crypto-backed category; eUSD rarely strays from the calm end of the stress scale. So why only a B- overall? The drag is structural: a D on decentralization and a C+ on dependency, because the whole thing is governed by per-RToken stakers and leans entirely on the health of Aave, Compound, and the USDC/USDT underneath — the wrapper inherits every upstream risk it's built on. The hundreds of historical depeg blips are real but largely ancient, the worst a roughly 13% gash in earlier days, while peg stability today and a three-chain deployment across Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum suggest the mechanism has settled. Supply has been essentially flat near $23M for months, neither growing nor contracting, which is either stability or irrelevance depending on your perspective.

## Collateral

Diversified basket of yield-bearing stablecoin derivatives: Aave V3 USDC, Compound V3 USDC, and Compound V3 USDT; RSR stakers provide first-loss overcollateralization

## Peg Mechanism

Permissionless 1:1 mint and redemption against underlying collateral basket; RSR stakers absorb first losses in case of collateral default; basket rebalances via Dutch/batch auctions
