## Overview

KB Financial Group announced on May 17, 2026 that it had completed an integrated won-stablecoin proof of concept with KG Inicis, Kaia and OpenAsset. The pilot connected issuance, Hollys offline QR payments, merchant settlement and remittance to a Vietnam bank account, with Kaia identifying KB Kookmin as the bank participant. KB plans actual services for implementation of Korean digital-asset legislation, without an announced launch date. The final legal issuer, official ticker, token-specific reserves and public-holder redemption terms remain unpublished; KRW-KB is an editorial display label.

## Collateral

Pre-launch: a bank-led Korean won issuance programme. Kaia describes its KRW issuance infrastructure as 1:1 won-backed, but KB-specific reserve composition, bank accounts, segregation, reconciliation and assurance are not disclosed. The final legal token issuer is unpublished; KB Kookmin is a pilot participant in the KB Financial Group programme.

## Peg Mechanism

Pre-launch: KB Financial Group designed an integrated won-stablecoin issuance, offline QR payment, merchant settlement and overseas-remittance proof of concept with KG Inicis, Kaia and OpenAsset. The demonstration converted won tokens into dollar stablecoins for receipt into a Vietnam bank account. This technical pilot does not establish public-holder redemption eligibility, fees, minimums, settlement guarantees or reserve claims. Actual services are planned for implementation of Korean digital-asset legislation.
