## Overview

one of the largest yield-bearing stablecoins, channeling USDC into overcollateralized institutional loans with independent Proof of Reserves. Maple Finance's syrupUSDC has become one of the largest {{term:yield-bearing}}yield-bearing{{/term}} stablecoins, channeling deposits into {{term:overcollateralization}}overcollateralization{{/term}}-backed institutional loans. The ERC-4626 vault design makes it composable enough that Aave V3, Morpho, and Pendle have all integrated it — meaning your lending yield can itself be lent, borrowed against, or split into principal and yield tranches. Maple's new Proof of Reserves layer adds {{term:attestation}}attestation{{/term}}-style independent verification by The Network Firm for collateral backing the loan book, improving transparency without eliminating credit, {{term:custody}}custody{{/term}}, or {{term:liquidation}}liquidation{{/term}}-timing risk. The risk is still the one that always haunts institutional credit: borrowers default, and 'overcollateralized' is only as good as the collateral's liquidation value in a downturn.
