## Overview

TrueUSD's reserves tell the whole story: 99% parked in opaque First Digital Trust fund investments rated very-high risk, 1% in actual cash, all under a British Virgin Islands domicile with no meaningful regulator — the exact opposite of what the brand once promised. The Chainlink Proof of Reserve feed provides an {{term:attestation}}attestation{{/term}} that reserves exist but says nothing about what those reserves actually are, which is like a fire alarm that confirms the building is there but not whether it's burning, and the underlying {{term:custody}}custody{{/term}} chain stays just as opaque. Supply has been effectively frozen for weeks with little movement, an unusual pattern that suggests either minting is paused or demand has fully calcified, and the {{term:redemption}}redemption{{/term}} path through Techteryx offers little additional clarity. The peg itself holds tight, but dozens of past depeg blips and a C- report card describe a token that survives on institutional inertia rather than active confidence — still traded, still liquid enough on its DEX pools, but no longer trusted the way its name demands.
