## Overview

Nubank's USD stablecoin row is still pre-launch, but it is structurally interesting because the proposed surface is credit-card payments rather than a DeFi wallet. Roberto Campos Neto framed the pilot as part of a broader Nubank push into tokenized deposits and credit against tokenized assets, which is a much larger ambition than adding another dollar balance to an app. The unresolved question remains whether Nubank issues its own dollar token or routes through a third-party stablecoin such as USDC or PYUSD, and that answer decides the custody, reserve, and redemption model. Pharos keeps the placeholder as centralized and regulated-entity-driven because a Nubank rail would almost certainly be permissioned even if the token touches public chains later.
