## Overview

USDRIF is a Rootstock {{term:cdp}}CDP{{/term}} stablecoin minted against RIF token collateral -- onchain and transparent, but reserve quality is weak relative to BTC-backed alternatives. RIF US Dollar pushes the Rootstock stablecoin experiment further out on the risk curve than DOC: the peg is maintained with RIF collateral rather than Bitcoin collateral, which keeps everything onchain and transparent while making the reserve much weaker in quality. The protocol docs support minting and {{term:redemption}}redemption{{/term}} through {{term:overcollateralization}}overcollateralized{{/term}} positions exposed to {{term:liquidation}}liquidation{{/term}} risk, but the structure is still niche -- small, volatile-collateral-backed, and dependent on a market that has never reached real scale. That makes USDRIF worth tracking as a live Rootstock stablecoin, not as a high-confidence safe haven.
