## Overview

Universal USD is backed by dollar bank deposits and issued under Universal Digital’s ADGM fiat-referenced-token permission. Crowe’s monthly examination reconciles exact Ethereum liabilities to bank-confirmed reserve balances, providing financial assurance distinct from the token’s security audit. Direct par redemption is reserved for onboarded professional clients through Aquanow and generally takes two business days after due diligence. The issuer retains blacklisting, balance-wiping and upgrade controls, while current minter caps and controlling key thresholds remain unresolved. Reserve account separation does not establish an independently verified holder insolvency priority, and ordinary market exit depends on the depth of a small USDU/USDT pool.

## Collateral

U.S. dollar deposits at UAE banks; the August 31, 2026 Crowe examination reconciles $30,651,543.81 of deposits to the same number of Ethereum USDU tokens.

## Peg Mechanism

Universal mints against validated USD reserve deposits through Aquanow; onboarded professional clients redeem at $1 per USDU, generally within two business days after due diligence, with fees and extension rights.
